SMP Tutoring provides homework support, lesson-plan-based remediation, and test prep.
Students receiving homework support will bring in homework or class materials that they would like to review with a tutor.
Lesson-plan-based remediation and test prep begin with an evaluation or practice test. Students are scheduled once results are reviewed.
What kind of tutoring does SMP Tutoring offer?
SMP Tutoring is open weekdays from 10:00 am to 8:30 pm. Most tutoring takes place in the afternoons between 2:30 and 9:30 pm. All of our weekday sessions begin on the half hour.
We are also open on Saturdays from 9:30 to 3:00 pm. Our Saturday tutoring sessions begin on the hour.
SMP Tutoring is closed on Sundays.
What hours does SMP Tutoring offer for tutoring appointments?
The tutors who work at SMP Tutoring are college graduates or college students majoring in education or the subject area related to the subject they tutor.
Prospective tutors are selected based on their educational and professional experience and standardized test scores. They are tested during the interview process to determine their level of knowledge and their ability to communicate effetively to students.
Who are the tutors at SMP Tutoring?
When you schedule a consistent appointment on our weekly schedule, you will have the same tutor each week. Occasionally a tutor is absent, and you will be given a substitute for that session.
When you schedule a drop-in appointment, you can request your favorite tutor and we will do our best to accommodate you.

What if I don't like my tutor?
SMP Tutoring has numerous tutors who can tutor each subject. If you don't feel that the tutor is a good fit for you, please call us and let us know. We will try to match you with another tutor.
Does online tutoring work?
SMP Tutoring offers both in-person and online tutoring. Tutors use Zoom to deliver one-on-one online sessions. Our online program is very successful. Students and parents have found it to be effective and convenient.
